Twelve Thousand Years: American Indians in Maine
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Nebraska Pr (August, 2001)
Average review score:

Outstanding, just OutstandingA book recommended to me by an archaeologist in Maine. I am not disappointed. The language and grammer is a bit above the lay person but with close study, you can catch on, as all is explained. A well written book covering the history with, and associated with, the Maine Native Americans. It just touches upon the associated peripheral subjects in history during each period, since volumes could be devoted to the complete history sorrounding the natives of Maine. It begins with the Ice Age and goes from there. Lots of archaeology and several hypothesis included. For anybody seriously interested in what Maine has done with their archaeology on Native Americans, I recommend this book whole-heartedly.........

Two from Galilee; a love story
Published in Unknown Binding by Revell ()
Average review score:

A fictional 're-creation' of the love story of Mary & JosephUsing vivid word portraits, the author blends scripture, tradition, and creative imagination into a fictional re-creation of the courtship of Mary and Joseph. This is the foundational piece of the trilogy... which continues with "Three From Galilee" and concludes with "The Messiah".

Viral Pathogenesis and Immunity
Published in Paperback by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (15 December, 2001)
Average review score:

An excellent undergrad text on medicla virologyAs a Medical School lecturer, running a virology course, I found this book to exactly what I had been waiting for. It is more fleshed-out and more virus-centred than the otherwise excellent introductions to infection and immunity by Mims and by Mitchinson but isn't as dry and encyclopedic as Fields (or Nathanson's big "Viral Pathogenesis"). It deals in a well-organized, clear and accessible way with the current scientific understanding of the interactions between virus and host at the molecular, cellular, systems and population levels, and provides sufficient clinical examples to be appealing to medical students and biologists alike. Clinical students will need, in addition, to have access to a more systematic text. My only gripe is that, as a duo-tone softback at a little over 200pp., the publishers have priced it too high for the mass market it deserves.

Average review score:

Tales drawn from the Anishinabeg oral traditionCompiled and edited by Anne Dunn, Winter Thunder: Retold Tales is a compendium of forty imaginative tales drawn from the Anishinabeg oral tradition. Taken as a whole, this anthology of engaging stories offers keen and loving insights into the mythic origins of the natural and supernatural worlds around and within the reader. Living on the Leech Lake Reservation near Cass Lake, Minnesota, Anne Dunn is an Anishinabeg grandmother and elder story-teller who has provided a compelling and invaluable contribution to Native American folklore studies. Also very highly recommended are her previous books: Grandmother's Gift (Holy Cow! Press) and When Beaver Was Very Great (Midwest Editions).

Without Price (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No 465)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (December, 1992)

:)Katherine Brewster is terrified by the attempted kidnapping of her nephew Danny. Katherine is watching Danny while her sister is off in another country on a photo assignment. Unfortunately, the man that tried to kidnap Danny is his father. The police assign private investigator Sloan Calder to protect Katherine and Danny. He was to take them to a safe house where they were to pretend to be a family-wife, husband and son. Danny's criminal father is involved in mob related crimes and considered very dangerous. Sloan sees this as a chance to protect a woman and child like he was unable to protect his own wife when she was killed. Sloan and Katy did not count on really falling into their roles as husband and wife, but how could they not. They are both highly attracted to each other and they have had dealings together in the past. The electricity between the two is undeniable. All they have to do is get over the pain of there pasts and share there future. I loved this story. It has everything from suspense to romance. Highly enjoyable and highly recommended!
